The Commercial Radio Awards red carpet was the sleeper hit of the fashion season
Whoever coined the insult, “You have a face for radio”, would be eating their words after Australian radio’s night of nights over the weekend.
For an event celebrating the talents of people more accustomed to working in casual clothes – Alan Jones notwithstanding – the stars of the airwaves turned in the sleeper hit red carpet of the season on Saturday night.
Leading the pack was Australia’s high priestess of red carpet dressing, Bec Judd, who added radio host to her already jammed CV this year.
Judd, who co-hosts the 3PM Pick-Up on KIIS FM with Yumi Stynes and Katie ‘Monty’ Diamond, more than made up for her absence at the Brownlow in a pink gown by her speed-dial designers J’aton that was covered in applique flowers and leaves and featured a giant bow on the left shoulder.

Proving that mixing motherhood with media stardom isn’t all champagne and limos, Judd posted a photo of her daughter, Billie, hiding in the skirt of her dress as she had her makeup applied on Saturday afternoon.
“[My son] Tom was having a meltdown just off camera in my mum’s arms and Oscar was threatening one because Chris and I were going out for the night. Billie is in my dress, refusing to let go and Darcy (in the pic) decided to fill his nappy with a fresh one just before we walked out the door. #mumlife I wouldn’t have it any other way though…,” she posted to her 654,000 Instagram followers.

Also shining on the red carpet was Andy Lee’s partner, Rebecca Harding, in a Dolce & Gabbana dress and Olympia Le Tan clutch from rental outfit Borrow My Balmain.
Looking like Sharon Stone’s character Ginger in the 1995 mobster flick Casino, Harding was spotted earlier in the day working the door of the Catalina Sounds marquee at Caulfield in her day job with a boutique PR agency.

Comedian Em Rusciano stepped out in a lace dress by Silvana Tedesco in canary yellow, featuring a frill-neck collar, which she teamed with a vintage Dolce & Gabbana bag from vintage boutique, The Upstyler.
And proving that great minds think alike, radio award winners Tanya Hennessy and Georgia Holland arrived wearing the same Alice McCall dress, something that’s never usually an issue in radio land.
